EIDX B2B Content Standards:
Open Applications Group Integration Specification (OAGIS)
The
Open Applications Group Interface Specification (OAGIS) is a widely
accepted standard within the supply chain domain that specifies
a standard method of passing data in and out of applications using
an XML format. Under the OAGIS standard, related information is bundled
into a structure called a Business Object Document (BOD). There are
more than 120 published BODs.
The Open Applications Group (OAG) is a non-profit consortium focusing
on best practices and process-based XML content for e-Business and
application integration. Vendors and users of ERP software
are members of OAG.
OAGIS does not specify an implementation architecture. Three major
B2B implementation architectures have been developed including:
RosettaNet's RNIF, Microsoft's BizTalk,
and ebXML Transport and Routing Specification.
These architectures provide the basis for interoperability between
different vendor and home-grown solutions. The OAGIS policy
is to be technology
sensitive but not specific, and use existing open standards whenever
possible.
How To Locate OAGIS Version 7.1 BOD™ Documentation
You do not
need to be a OAG member in order to access and
download published BOD specifications,
including XML DTD's and schema. EIDX does not track of the status
or versions of OAG BODs.
To access a BOD:
- Understand what a BOD identifier represents -
- A BOD number has 4 parts: a number + a verb + a noun + a
version. (e.g., 003_process_po_007)
- The three-digit number is just a number
- each new BOD gets the next available number. BOD 003_process_po_007
is BOD
number
003.
- The verb identifies the service that the BOD performs.
S4_AppendixE.doc contains descriptions of all the
verbs. BOD 003_process_po_007
performs a process service.
(e.g., The process verb is used to describe specific
processing in a more fine grained manner beyond
add, change or delete processing)
The noun identifies the target object of the service,
such as a Purchase Order (PO).
- The version is the
revision number of the individual BOD.
- Logon to the OAGI Web
site
- Click Free Downloads
- Select the appropriate version
- Fill in the registration form
- Download the file(s)
to the directory of your choice
- Select the appropriate BOD.
