EIDX/CompTIA Forecast/Planning Model II
Material Release Schedule
This is a special form of planning forecast for use in embedded release process - contains forecast (net of inventory) plus releases "embedded" in the forecast file.  Forecast/planning models are better understood in the context of replenishment.  The replenishment scenario matrix shows how forecast/planning and order models interact to form replenishment models.

Step Description
1. Buyer generates material release schedule to send to supplier. Material release schedule is typically regenerated weekly. Any changes/exceptions from a previous run are factored into the new generation of the material release schedule.
2. Supplier receives material release schedule sent by buyer. Includes determining if data sent is in valid format and meets any syntax requirements. Seller may use material release Schedule in order to plan for future orders from buyer, including planning the workload/capacity of the factories and warehouses.
3. If required by buyer, supplier generates a response to the material release schedule. Response contents are per trading partner agreement:
    • Send a response to all forecasted demand lines or sending a response only for the lines where supplier could not meet demand (exception-based response).
    • Send reference to dates as submitted on the forecast as well as dates actually planned by supplier, or only sending dates that are actually planned by the supplier.
4. If a response to material release schedule is received, buyer evaluates the response and takes appropriate action.  Some adjustments may be incorporated into the next iteration of the material release schedule, and some adjustments may be handled manually, if necessary.
