EIDX/CompTIA Forecast/Planning Model I
The buyer generates a planning/delivery schedule (net rolling
forecast) for information only and capacity or lead time planning
purposes, to convey anticipated demand or run rates; no authorization
to build or ship implied except per trading partner agreement.
The seller provides response to forecast for agreed-upon horizon
of the forecasted demand and planned shipments as outlined in the
trading partner agreement. Forecast/planning models are better
understood in the context of replenishment. The replenishment
scenario matrix shows how forecast/planning and order models interact
to form replenishment models.

Description |

Buyer nets MRP data to generate a
planning forecast and determine whether replenishment is required
during the current planning cycle. Buyer sends planning forecast
to seller. Planning forecast is typically regenerated weekly.
Any changes/exceptions from a previous run are factored into
the new generation of the planning forecast. |

Supplier receives planning forecast
sent by buyer. Includes determining if data sent is in valid
format and meets any syntax requirements. Seller may use planning
forecast in order to plan for future orders from buyer, including
planning the workload/capacity of the factories and warehouses. |

If required by buyer, supplier generates
a response to the planning forecast. Response contents are per
trading partner agreement:
- Send a response to all forecasted demand lines or sending
a response only for the lines where supplier could not
meet demand (exception-based response).
- Send reference to dates as submitted on the forecast
as well as dates actually planned by supplier, or only
sending dates that are actually planned by the supplier.

If a response to planning forecast
is received, buyer evaluates the response and takes appropriate
action. Some adjustments may be incorporated into the
next iteration of the forecast, and some adjustments may be
handled manually, if necessary. |
